🔒 Privacy & Security

• Q: Where are my messages stored?
  A: Nowhere. Messages go directly device-to-device. Nothing is saved on any server.
• Q: Is this chat encrypted?
  A: Yes. All video and text traffic is encrypted using WebRTC security protocols (DTLS/SRTP).
• Q: What happens if I close the tab?
  A: All history is deleted instantly. There is no "cloud" backup.
• Q: Can I use the same link again?
  A: No. Every time you create a room, a unique, random ID is generated. Once the host closes the tab, that specific room ID is destroyed forever. This prevents strangers from finding old links and trying to join your sessions later.

📶 Connection & Speed

• Q: Why did my connection drop?
  A: If your phone goes to sleep or switches from WiFi to 4G/5G, the direct link breaks. You will need to reconnect.
• Q: Does this work on Corporate/School WiFi?
  A: Sometimes not. Strict firewalls often block unknown P2P traffic.
  🤓 Tech Note: Corporate networks often use "Symmetric NATs" which block direct connections. To bypass this, apps usually use TURN Servers (relays). To ensure this app remains 100% private and free, I only use STUN Servers (address finders) and do not relay your data through a middleman. If the firewall says "No Direct Connection," I cannot force it.

• Q: What is the file size limit?
  A: 150MB per file. This prevents browser crashes.
• Q: Do you compress media?
  A: No. Files are sent bit-for-bit exactly as they are. Zero quality loss.
• Q: Can I have a Group Chat?
  A: No. PeerChatPro is strictly 1-on-1 to ensure maximum privacy and connection speed.
• Q: How do I move the video window?
  A: Tap the "Minimize" icon, then drag the minimized window anywhere. It will remember where you placed it for next time.
• Q: Is this really free?
  A: Yes. Because I don't have servers storing your data, my costs are low. The project is supported by donations:
  

👨‍💻 About the Developer

• Q: Who are you?
  A: I'm Trent Troyer. I basically build tools for myself that I find useful or just plain fun—and hopefully, you get some use out of them too.

🤔 Purpose & Philosophy

• Q: Why create this when other apps exist?
  A: This started as a fun coding project to prove that secure communication doesn't need big tech companies involved. Standard apps like WhatsApp or Messenger are great for keeping history, but sometimes you don't want history.
• Q: What makes this different?
  A: Frictionless privacy. You don't need to download an app, create an account, or give up your phone number. You just send a link, chat, and when you leave, the conversation ceases to exist.
• Q: Why are some features missing?
  A: I kept it simple on purpose. Adding features like "User Profiles" or "Chat Logs" would require a database, which creates a privacy risk. If you need permanent history, use a standard app.
• Q: But I have the BEST feature idea, please add it!
  A: Look, I'm stubborn about keeping this app simple. That said, I'm not immune to bribery. 🤑 I doubt I will add it, but throwing some 💰 my way might change my mind—if it fits the philosophy. Feel free to toss your suggestion into the "Buy me a coffee" Tip message with some "motivation."

⚠️ Troubleshooting

• Q: I can't see/hear the person.
  A: Check browser permissions for Camera/Mic and ensure volume is up.
• Q: Can I switch apps while chatting?
  A: Be careful. On mobile, if you minimize the browser, the OS may pause the connection, causing video to freeze.
• Q: Which browsers work best?
  A: I recommend Chrome, Safari (iOS), Firefox, or Edge. Very old browsers may not work.
